All surprise is biologically pessimistic

When a person is surprised, we get the fight flight freeze or fawn respose. This happens in the limbic system, so it happens before a conscious thought it’s only after the fight flight freeze fun response when we have a moment to assess the situation which the author David Huron suggests, he calls a phenomenon contrast of valence pleasures increased on a positive response follows a negative response while surprises biologically bad surprise nevertheless plays a pivotal role in human emotional experience surprise acts as an emotional amplifier, and we sometimes intentionally use this amplifier to boost positive emotions. Surprise, evolutionary speaking, prepares us to survive. Failure to be surprised could lead to demise such as being eaten by a bear because you are not surprised that you turn around and saw a bear.
